Stainless Steel Nerf Bars

Stainless steel is the most resistant to corrosion over the other metals used for nerf bars. The steel is polished to a mirror finish giving you a great look to match other accessories on your truck. Some bars are made of a 304L stainless steel metal which has a lower carbon content than normal 304. Less carbon equals less corrosion. Most Mercury stainless steel nerf bars have a lifetime warranty.

Black Nerf Bars

Bars that are not stainless steel are either painted or powder coated black. The more popular powder coating leaves a much thicker, more durable layer over the steel construction. This steel has a higher carbon content which is more vulnerable to oxidizing but is protected by the painted finish. Black finish provides a more aggressive look that a lot of truck owners are looking for. Most black nerf bars have a 3 year warranty.

Oval Nerf Bars

Differing shapes of nerf bars affect things like strength and step pad width. The standard size bar is a 3" round bar but other options are available like 4", 5", and even 6" ovals.
